I don’t think there’s any better example of sophisticated shopping than the exclusive arcades of Piccadilly and St James. They ooze class and laid-back elegance like no other.

Take a stroll down Princes Arcade which connects Jermyn Street and Piccadilly. It’s only a relatively short walk but in those few minutes you’re taken into a world where time almost stands still, giving you a chance to admire the small stylish shops with their carefully displayed goods.

Princes Arcade was actually built in the 1930’s during the art deco period and its architecture reflects the age. On this site originally stood the Princes Hotel and Restaurant, which was the place to go to take tea and rather bizarrely, tango at the same time!

That’s all long gone now but Princes Arcade serves as a gentle reminder of why this part of London is still so effortlessly stylish.
