Partly hidden sights in London can somehow be very satisfying when discovered, and St Katherine Docks Marina, minutes from the Tower of London and visible from behind the Tower Hotel, certainly fits that bill.
Formally part of the docks of the Port of London but due to it’s limited size it wasn’t possible to cater for some of the larger ships and was therefore one of the first of the commercial docks to close in 1968.
It is now Central London’s only marina and has some lovely yachts moored there with apartments, pubs and restaurants on the waterside. Probably worth checking out is The Dickens Inn, a reconstructed timber-framed warehouse with nice outdoor seating and balconies.
